Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 31 condemned Congress’ remarks on President Droupadi Murmu. On this PM Modi in a rally in Dwarka said: “Look at their arrogance, they insulted President Droupadi Murmu, who comes from a tribal background. Congress has insulted all those who rise from the poor, Dalits, tribals, and OBCs.”

Earlier in the day, President Murmu addressed a joint sitting of the Parliament to mark the beginning of the Budget Session. Speaking to reporters after the session, Sonia Gandhi, former Congress chief, said the President looked exhausted after her long customary speech."The President was getting very tired by the end. She could hardly speak, poor thing," Gandhi said.

Before this match, India will take on Japan in their second match of the tournament and Pakistan will clash with South Korea at the same venue.

The BJP quickly labelled the comments as "derogatory" and pressed for an apology.

PM Criticised AAP

In addition to this, PM Modi criticised the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for hindering Delhi’s development while using the city’s resources for political gain. Speaking at a public rally in Dwarka, Modi accused AAP of turning Delhi into a “political ATM” to fund its ambitions in other states and urged voters to choose a “double-engine government” for the city’s progress.

Modi highlighted the newly inaugurated Yashobhoomi convention centre in Dwarka as a representation of the BJP’s vision for a modern Delhi. “The BJP wants to make Delhi modern, and a glimpse of that can be seen in Dwarka with the construction of the majestic Yashobhoomi,” he said.

Modi also criticized the AAP for prioritizing political infighting over governance. “For years, they’ve been embroiled in conflicts—with Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and the Centre. If such people continue to lead Delhi, the city will keep falling behind,” he stated.

Promising better governancenustabet gaming, Modi assured the public of a tough stance on corruption if the BJP takes power in Delhi. “Once the BJP forms the government, we will launch a stringent crackdown on AAP's corruption,” he declared, pledging to present a report from the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) in the Vidhan Sabha, which he claimed exposed AAP’s financial misconduct.
